Sina Demiral
Happy Days

Mehmet Sina Demiral was born in Diyarbakır in 1982. After finishing elementary, intermediate and high school he left Diyarbakır to attend Istanbul Technical University Department of Management Engineering. After finishing his education in 2004 he took up photography, celebrating his love of Istanbul in his photographs. His photography has decorated the pages of with "Istanbul.com" and "In Istanbul" magazine. He is currently working in Beymen as a financial projects and audit specialist, and doing his own photography projects.

He has attended Mixed Exhibitions: "Thinking of Istanbul," organized by Fotofanclub Mixed Exhibition, and ITU Deviants Mixed Exhibitions. His photographs have been published in "Foreign Policy," "Popüler Tarih", "Chica," "Go-Girl," "Ekonometri" magazines, and in several Istanbul catalogues.

Sina Demiral and Özgür Çakır, two Istanbul lovers have their own projects of two photography exhibition, Melankolistanbul & Istanbul'da.  

M. Sina Demiral's thoughts on photography and his works are grounded in the belief that, while anyone can take a photograph, only a few photographs are art-worthy.

He believes that the compositional components which will bear meaning within the photograph can be created by the careful lighting for the vision of the piece.

While working on portraits, the person is the basic component. He wants to celebrate the person, never exploiting them for the image -- except in spontaneous works and with the person's permission even before the shot is taken.

Although he believes that a photograph can be taken everywhere, he does not believe every photograph from every place can be successful. In photography, he believes in the naturalness of the moment. In fictitious scenes he believes that the subject of the fictions should be either absurd or natural. He is not against the use of digital processing of photography; so long as it is used judiciously and with an eye for the value inherit in the art.







1982 yılında Diyarbakır’da doğan Mehmet Sina Demiral; ilk, orta ve lise eğitimini Diyarbakır’da tamamladıktan sonra 2000 yılında İTÜ İşletme Mühendisliği’ni kazandı ve İstanbul’da yaşamaya başladı. 2004 yılında üniversiteyi bitirmesi ile fotoğrafla tanışan Mehmet Sina Demiral, İstanbul sevgisini çektiği İstanbul fotoğraflarıyla süslemeye başladı. İstanbul fotoğrafları ve sevgisi onu 9 ay gibi bir dönem "İstanbul.com" ve “In İstanbul” dergisinde fotoğraf editörü olarak çalışmaya yöneltti. Şu an Beymen'de Mali İşler ve Denetim Uzmanı olarak çalışmakla beraber fotoğrafçılığı serbest ve kişisel çekimleri için sürdürmektedir.

Daha önce Fotofanclub’ın düzenlediği Karma Sergileri’ne ve İstanbul’u Düşünüyorum Karma Sergisi’ne katıldı. Ayrıca; Foreign Policy, Popüler Tarih, Chica, Go-Girl, Ekonometri dergisinde ve çeşitli İstanbul kataloglarında fotoğrafları yayınlandı.

Sina Demiral ve Özgür Çakır, 2007 yılında açtıkları İstanbul'da sergisinden sonra 2008 Eylül'nde Melankolistanbul Fotoğraf Sergisiyle fotoğraflarını izleyicileriyle buluşturdu.

M. Sina Demiral’ın fotoğraf ve fotoğrafçılık hakkında düşünceleri, genel olarak herkesin fotoğraf çekebileceği ama pek azının sanatsal kaygıyla deklanşöre basıldığı temeline dayanır.

Fotoğrafı anlamlı kılacak kompozisyon öğelerinin, o anı en iyi yansıtabilecek ışık değeriyle yaratıcı bir bakış açısı eşliğinde dondurduğuna inanır.

Fotoğrafta portre çalışırken, insan unsurunun sömürülmesine karşı çıktığı gibi, fotoğrafın temel öğesi insan olduğunda spontane çalışılan sokak fotoğrafı haricinde etik olarak kişilerin izni ile deklanşöre basılması gerektiğine inanır.

Her yerden bir fotoğraf çıkabileceğine inanıyorsa da, her mekandan çıkabilecek fotoğrafın başarılı olabileceğine inanmaz. Fotoğrafta çekilen anın doğallığına, kurguda ise konu gereğince absürd yada doğal olması gerektiğine dayanır.

Fotoğrafta dijital müdahelelere karşı olmadığını, çağın bir gereksinimi olarak eğer doğru yerde doğru fotoğrafa uygulandığında sanatsal değerini artıracaksa yapılması gerektiğine de inanmaktadır.
